Awards UK Ltd started trading in 1997 following research which indicated that employers wanted awarding bodies that could deliver SVQs and NVQs on a UK-wide basis as opposed to having separate sets of Quality Assurance staff and administration procedures for Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Awards UK are a wholly owned subsidiary of Edexcel and the Scottish Qualifications Authority, two of the largest and best known awarding bodies in the UK.

Awards UK offers:

• A 'one-stop shop' enabling access to the range of SQA and Edexcel qualifications using a single data collection and administrative system.*

• A single approval system covering both SQA's and Edexcel's qualifications.

• A single verification system which covers both SQA and Edexcel qualifications in accordance with the requirements of the relevant Regulatory Bodies (eg QCA).
